DURHAM -- Carol Manion's nephew might be alive today if

Event to Support Healthy Relationships for LGBT Youth
The North Carolina
Coalition Against Domestic Violence, Family Services
of
Winston-Salem
and P-FLAG (Parents, Friends, and Family of Lesbians and
Gays) Winston-Salem will sponsor a one-day community event on
Saturday, April 14, 2007. The event is dedicated to
supporting lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth to
create and maintain healthy relationships. From 1pm-5pm,
two training and discussion forums will take place—one
designed to support LGBT youth in identifying and creating
healthy dating relationships, and a second designed to equip
adult allies to offer support and resources to LGBT youth.
The training and discussion forums will be followed by free
pizza and entertainment.

“Lesbian,
gay, bisexual and transgender youth often go without the
privilege of seeing healthy dating relationships in our pop
culture or in the world around us. This event will provide
a time for LGBT young people to come together and talk about
the joys and struggles that come with creating safe and
loving relationships and for adults to learn about how to
support youth in their relationships” says April
Burgess-Johnson, Coordinated Community Response Specialist
for the North Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence. |
